What is a grid connect solar energy system?

Grid-connect solar power is where your building has solar panels installed, but it also connected to the mains electricity supply network (also called the “grid”). During times when you are generating more power than you are using, you feed your power back into the grid, which generates revenue for you. During times when you require more power than you are generating (eg at night, or if you have lots of machinery going at once) then you draw power from the grid to supplement the power that you generate yourself.
